Collosion of two ferries with GPS tracking system
It all happens because the two ferries that collied with each other has a similar waypoint keyed in the gps (Global Positioning System)tracking system. The cause of the collision between the two ferries off Langkawi waters on november last year saw a three years boy being killed and injured thirty three person all because of the fault of the ship captains. Bad weather on that day also contributed to the mishap.
Heavy rain also affected visibility which was less than 100m. Both ferries had failed to carry out effective surveillance and put the radar on at the nautical miles only, this was announced by Malaysian transports minister and investigation was carried out by Malaysin Marine Department.
